Midweek Email
Today was the first test of the Swimtopia app alert notification system. If you have the Swimtopia app on your phone and did not receive the push notification about practice, check to make sure you have notifications turned on.
In that regard, we heard from Manheim Township Parks and Recreation that they closed Skyline pool this evening due to the air quality. There is a possibility this might happen tomorrow as well which would also cancel our practices. Stay tuned tomorrow morning but as always, please use your discretion on sending your child or not.
Thanks for bearing the uncertain weather last night! (At least we didn't get hail like just down the road). The desserts were delicious and the kids seemed to have a fun time bonding as a team.
Since I needed to shorten what I was going to say, I'm going to address some points here.
1. Communication -
- General swim team questions/concerns - [email protected]
- Swimmer questions/concerns - [email protected]
- Facebook - Skyline Sharks Swim
- IG - MT Skyline Sharks
2. Volunteering -
- Job descriptions under Meets and Events on website
- Sign up in same spot at meets
- Takes roughly 75 volunteers per home meet and around 100 for the Cup
- Every family is expected to volunteer 1-2 times (not just concessions)
- We need a lot of help with pool setup (4-5 PM) and teardown (9-9:30 at the absolute latest - the more help the quicker we get done)
- Concessions signup will come soon.
3. Cleanup and Lost and Found
- Please make sure to have your swimmers clean up their area before leaving practice.
- Items have been left behind already this week and I also walked around and picked up some trash before leaving (grass and concession stand area - which are usually kids who walk to Sheetz)
- The Skyline Swim Team lost and found spot will be labeled at the pool Lost and Found shelves (between the bathrooms and the lifeguard area) - please do not leave things on the mailbox. The pool cleans the shelves approximately every two weeks.
- If at all possible, please move chairs into groupings before you leave. For example, 2-3 lounge chairs together or low beach chairs, etc. The lifeguards have been doing this all week and this will help them out a little bit.
4. Events
- Be on the lookout for information about Skyline Cup, Guppy Gulch, Swim for Life, and Banquet in future emails.
5. Photos for Video
- Heather Pasewicz spoke last night to let you know that she and her daughter will be taking photos and videos throughout the season for our end of the year video. We will also enlist the help of certain swimmers and coaches as well.
- You can contribute your own photos to the shared Google Drive - https://photos.app.goo.gl/gXyfyVJ36f2RYhJRA
6. Overlook Relays and Woodridge Invitational
- Both of these meets will be closed for sign-ups on Friday
- If you haven't already done so, please log in and declare attending or not attending
That is all for now. The following separate emails are coming soon:
- Saturday's CVI attendees
- Senior Families
- Swimmers not signed up for swim meets
