July! Hard to believe that we are here when it truly hasn't felt much like summer to me this year. Here's hoping we have sunnier and warmer days ahead. July also means a ton of Skyline information about to come your way so please read through this very carefully. 

TUESDAY - NO PRACTICE - ENJOY THE HOLIDAY WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS! 

SKYLINE CUP - (NEW)

  • Concessions are now open for Thursday night. Keep in mind that the Cup is our biggest event with 3 other teams so we will need everyone to donate. and volunteer.
  • Volunteer Jobs - critical needs are in bold: Please remember that we expect that if your child is swimming that you will sign up and help out in some way during this meet.
    • Candy Gram Table - 3 during second half
    • Concessions - 3 people 7-8 PM, 8-9 PM
    • Finish Judge - 1 in 2nd half
    • Head Timer - 1 in 2nd half
    • Timer - 1 in 2nd half
    • Parking Lot Attendants - 5 (you won't be by yourself - we have a coordinator who will guide you and once the parking lot is full - you're done - no matter what time it says) 
    • Pool Setup - 2
    • Raffle Table - 1 in 1st half
    • Stroke and Turn Judge - 2 in 2nd half
  • The Skyline Cup is also a charity event. Admission is $5 for anyone over 17 years old. This includes Skyline families - even if you are volunteering. Gates open at 5 PM. Meet starts at 6PM. 
  • There will also be raffle baskets, candygrams, our concessions, and The Oasis Food Truck (acai bowls, smoothies, flavored lemonades). 
  • We will also be collecting donations for our chosen charity this year - The Mix at Arbor Place. Bring a donation and receive 1 free raffle ticket per person. Suggested items include: 
    • White board markers, Graph paper, Mechanical pencils, Basic calculators AAA batteries, C batteries, Backpacks, Lunch boxes, Erasers, No. 2 pencils Book covers, Notebooks, Folders, 3 ring binders, Rulers, Loose Lined Paper, Index cards, Colored Pencils, Markers, Gluesticks      
  • Remember that there will be 3 other teams joining us so please do your best to carpool. You can park next door once the offices and bank are closed. DO NOT PARK AT THE EDEN!   
  • Mamas/Papas/Alumni Relay and/or Freestyle Race
    I know that there are many of you who want to show your kids your awesome swimming strokes! We are looking for relay teams or want to just race individually, we have that option too! Have someone email Coach Barb your relay team members' names or let her know if you just want to swim a 25 race. The relays will be in the middle of the meet and the 25s at the end.
  • Raffle basket items are due Wednesday. We will be putting together the raffle baskets at the pool beginning at 9 am on July 6th and we could use help. Anyone that would like to help out or is creative in making raffle baskets would be great!
  • Theme Night: USA 

Guppy Gulch - Sunday, July 16 (NEW)

Registration for Guppy Gulch is now open. An information sheet is attached to this email. Registration/payment can be a little complicated so please follow the steps on the attachment and also listed below if you are planning to attend. The cost is $27 for participants or $10 for observers if paying by check or $28/$11 if paying via Venmo (see directions below). You must register by this Friday, July 7 but payment is due by next Friday, July 14. If you aren't registered by Friday, July 7 you will be unable to attend since we need to give the count to Guppy Gulch on that date so don't delay!

How do I sign up?

  • You must complete the online waivers for each participant BEFORE registering on Swimtopia. (see above)
  • In Swimtopia, go to Meets and Events and scroll to Guppy Gulch and click the RSVP button. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND.
  • RSVP for only those listed in your family who are attending.
  • If you are bringing additional guests, please choose how many and list their names in the Comment Section.
  • In the comments section – please list your # of participants/observers, total amount/payment method/acknowledgement of waiver completion.
  • EXAMPLE: 3 participants - $81 check/all 3 waivers completed or 2 participants/1 observer -$64 via Venmo/all 3 waivers completed
  • You can find the Venmo account for our team under Businesses - @skylinesharks. If you choose this payment method, please write Guppy Gulch and Swimmer’s Name and remember the cost is $1 more per person attending.
  • If writing a check, please make it out to Skyline Swim Team and place it in an envelope labeled Guppy Gulch in the Damm mailbox. 
  • Guppy Gulch is recommended for guests 8 years and older. 
  • We highly recommend that parents of 10 and under supervise their children IN the water.
  • You must provide/arrange your own transportation. 
  • All swimmers will receive a pair of AquaSocks to wear in the park and to take home at the end of the day. The cost of these is included in your ticket price. Other types of shoes and/or water socks will no longer be allowed on the inflatables or docks.

Save-a-Life Swim Program - Thursday, July 13 (NEW) 

The Skyline Swim Team will be raising money to support the American Cancer Society during our regular practice times on Thursday, July 13. More details including pledge forms and incentives will be coming. 

Banquet - Sunday, July 23 (NEW) 

Where: Eden Resort Courtyard

When: Sunday, July 23        5-9 PM

Cost: $15 for swimmers $25 for non-swimmers 11 and under

$30 for non-swimmers 12 and up

Payment: Cash, Check (payable to Skyline Swim Team -put in Damm mailbox) or Venmo (@skylinesharks) due to Skyline by July 14

Register: In Swim Topia, go to Meets and Events and scroll to Banquet and click the RSVP button. RSVP for only those listed in your family who are attending. If you are bringing additional guests, please choose how many and list their names (and age if a child) in the Comment Section. Also, in the comments section – please list your total amount and payment method. If you have not registered and paid when the signup closes on the 14th, you will not be counted in the final count and will be unable to attend the meal portion of the banquet. 

Other information:

  • 8 and under swimmers will be sitting with their families
  • Children ages 12-years-old and below must be accompanied by a responsible adult
  • For safety purposes, Skyline Swim Team and families are only permitted in the courtyard and lobby areas of the Eden Resort. Parents/Guardians need to know children's whereabouts at all times.

2023 Red Divisional Championship - Saturday, July 22 - Ephrata (NEW)

This meet is open to all swimmers in the Red Division who have participated in at least 2 dual meets throughout the seasonMore details will come next week but wanted to put three items on your radar: 

  • They are running one session beginning at 9 AM. You veteran families are used to older kids in morning and younger in the afternoon. This will not be the case this year. 
  • 6 Volunteer timers are needed - 3 for each half - signup is now open.
  • Please make sure to declare your swimmer's availability ASAP. There are 99 swimmers currently with no declaration either way. Everyone who is available may swim at divisionals. 

Divisional T-shirts 

The Lancaster Summer Swim League (LSSL) Divisional Championship T-shirt orders are due by July 5. You can order online at http://fipcreative.com/ephrata-tidal-waves-divisional

Meet Declarations 

There are only 2 home meets left in the regular season and then divisionals. Please make sure you have declared your swimmer/s availability.

This Week's Results (NEW) 

The results of both of this week's dual meets against Woodridge and Adamstown are attached. At Woodridge, even though we only swam half the meet, we had over 100 best times! There were 117 best times at the Adamstown meet. Congratulations everyone! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and thanks Open Boys for the exciting final event on Thursday night! (You can see a video on both our team Facebook and Instagram pages.) 

Ok - I know that was a lot of information all in one email, but it's now July and things are going to happen quickly as we approach the end of the season. So, let's wrap things up:

  • No practice on Tuesday.
  • Skyline Cup - Concessions are open, Important Volunteer Needs, $5 Admissions, School Supply Donations for The Mix at Arbor Place, Mamas/Papas/Alumni Races Signup
  • Guppy Gulch (Sunday, July 16) - registration is open on Swimtopia, Due by this Friday, July 7
  • Save-a-Life Swim - Thursday, July 13 - more information to come
  • Banquet (Sunday, July 23) - registration is open on Swimtopia. Due by Friday, July 14
  • Red Divisionals - Saturday, July 22 - make sure you declare your swimmer's status
