Happy Mother's Day to our swim team moms!
Pre-Season Practices (REMINDER AND NEW INFORMATION)
We have received updated information that the high school pool will not be open in time after all so please take note below of the updated June 3-7 information below.
Coach Barb and Coach Cody from Overlook have worked with the Manheim Township Parks and Recreation to put together a plan for this season's unusual pre-season practices due to the temporary closure of the high school pool. The plan is to do some land work (running, strength training, and team building activities) and if the water and air temperature is warm enough some in-water swimming. As a best practice, we’ll plan on not swimming if water temperature is below 77 degrees Fahrenheit, because anything colder can start to affect your ability to breathe per the National Center for Cold Water Safety and Cold Water Hazards and Safety (weather.gov). Please keep in mind, coaches may still choose not to enter the water if the temperature is higher than 77 degrees if the air temperature or weather are not ideal. Make sure your swimmer comes prepared for land work (sneakers, sweatshirt and sweatpants if the temperature is cooler) and possibly water work (swimsuit, towel, goggles, swim cap).

Practice June 10th begins morning practices at Skyline Pool.
* - Skyline Pool opens to the public on Memorial Day. If Overlook Pool is ready to be used we will move to that location but if not, we might remain at Skyline. That information will be communicated in the future.
New Parents Meeting (NEW)
A brief swim parent meeting for new families will be held in the concession stand area at Skyline on May 22 and May 23 at 6:00 PM. This meeting is mainly for new swim team families to have questions answered.
Meet Availability (REMINDER)
If you haven't signed up for meets yet, please take a moment to complete your swimmer/s availability. Not sure how to do this -

Here are some step-by-step directions.
- Sign into the website and click on the Meets and Events Tab
- Click on Meets and Events - you will see a green tab next to each swim meet this season.
- When you click on the green tab, you will see your swimmer/s name. Click the Edit button and choose attending/not-attending for each swimmer.
- Finally click the Save Button.
- You will need to do this for every meet
- You can also do this on the Swimtopia app. When you open the app, you will see a list of the events at the bottom of the screen and a question mark next to each meet. When you click on the arrow next to it, it will open up the event and then you should see a button that says Meet Signup. When you click that button, it will take you to the website and you can choose what your swimmer/s availability is for that event.
- If you are new to the team and aren't sure what meets to choose, for now - just choose Dual Meets. We can explain more at our first parent meeting.
Stroke and Turn Clinic (REMINDER - PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE)
This year's Stroke and Turn Clinic for adults who are interested in volunteering to be trained to be a Stroke and Turn Judge will be on Sunday, June 2 via Zoom. More information will come - but please mark your calendars now. We CAN NOT run a meet without multiple judges and the more trained and available - the better!
Overlook Relays T-Shirt (REMINDER)
Pre-purchase an “Olympic Splash” shirt today! No shirts will be available for sale on site the day of the relays. Please include swimmer name and team name in order notes at checkout. Order deadline is Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
We know that the pre-season practice schedule is a little confusing and is different for all of us so we appreciate your flexibility and understanding. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. It's a very busy last week of school for me, so I will try to answer them as soon as I can.
